What is a Dietitian? Dietitians have specialist training in the field of nutrition. They can help you to translate scientific information regarding health and nutrition into practical information about healthy eating and healthy food choices. A dietitian can assist you to make dietary modifications necessary to help manage or treat a number of medical conditions.
Who will benefit from consulting a Dietitian?
* Anyone wanting to make positive changes to their current nutritional intake. * Someone needing to gain more understanding of dietary management of their medical condition(s). * A new medical diagnosis requiring dietary modifications. * Anyone with an undesirable body weight – too high or too low. * Someone wanting a periodic review of their dietary practices.
What happens at a consultation with an Accreditied Practicing Dietitian?
A medical, lifestyle and dietary history are discussed at the initial consultation. A nutrition and lifestyle plan is developed for an individual based on discussed history, personal preferences and nutritional needs. The goal of this and subsequent visits are to promote permanent changes, through education and support, in order to achieve the individuals desired goals.
Individual consultations can be claimed with most private health funds under ancillary cover. Rebecca Hay is also a registered Medicare and DVA provider and will see patients covered by this scheme with an appropriate GP referral.

Rebecca Hay is an APD and a Sports Dietitian with experience practising as a Dietitian in clinical and private industry roles. Rebecca has extra qualifications in SPORTS NUTRITION. She has a strong a focus on endurance sports - in particular road and mountain bike riding, running and adventure racing. She is also a provider for NSWIS, a specialist consultant to the Army and provides regular lectures for many sports people through organsied courses and workshops. Rebecca herself has competed in many triathlons, from sprint to ironman distance. She is also an avid cyclist competitng in road and mountain bike events.
