Yoga for Cyclists

Yoga can make you a better cyclist- here's how:

Yoga exercises every muscle, nerve, gland, bone, organ and cell in the body. Through using the intelligence of the mind, you can create harmony and balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

In a cyclist, typically the iliopsoas, glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, calf muscles, inner and outer thigh muscles are tight and by stretching these muscles fatigue is diminished, energy is restored, and you can go harder on the bike!

Balancing and strengthening the core muscles are of primary importance in yoga practice. By training in this way- recruiting the abdominal muscles first-  energy is distributed more efficiently to the limbs, allowing you to get more freedom in the legs to work harder and faster on the bike whilst maintaining the strength in your back- i.e no more injuries!

Yoga postures were developed before 200B.C. and have been use throughout the ages to heal, strengthen and re-align the human body. Postures were developed from observing the movements of all living creatures, and also from some great sages who lived 200 B.C.
If you are consistent in your practice and come with a willingness to learn, there are so many benefits to yoga! Some of which are- no pain, peace of mind, ability to relax, increased strength and therefore true flexibility, tone every cell in the body, cope with life, develop patience, gratitude and more balance in one's personality, harness your energy, control your mind, and live a more balanced life....
