Ciclismo Cycling Tours
UCI World Championships Geelong – Sept 29 – Oct 4 2010
Come and see the UCI World Championships – held for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere. Come and watch the world’s best cyclists fight for the rainbow jersey and the coveted Time Trial Championship. Be part of the home crowd cheering Cadel Evans’ on as he defends his title.
Ciclismo Cycling Tours is running a tour to watch this great event – run to our usual high standards. A chance to watch all the racing and still get your own rides in as well. We also make time to enjoy the Bellarine peninsula and the Great Ocean Road. There is also an option to take up the VIP Spectator Experience.
Itinerary 
Wed September 29th
Arrive Melbourne airport from 8.30am and transfer to Geelong. We will assemble the bikes and see the Elite Women race the Time Trial course. That evening there will be a chance to get to know your fellow ciclismo tour riders with welcome drinks & a BBQ dinner.
Thurs September 30th
7am start and a ride to Queenscliff where we catch the ferry across to Sorrento. After stopping to recover in the many cafes there’s a chance for riders that would like a challenge to climb to the summit of Arthurs Seat for views of Port Phillip Bay. Then back to Geelong to watch the Elite Mens Time Trial. Tonight you are free to explore the restaurants and hotels in Geelong for dinner.
Fri October 1st
We will do a flat ride around the picturesque Bellarine peninsula and then watch the Mens U23 Road Race and people with VIP viewing will get to see the finish in style. In the evening, we will sample the local produce and wines at dinner in one of the vineyards.
Sat October 2nd
This morning we will ride part of the Great Ocean Road and do some of Cadel’s training route. Later we will see the finish of the Elite Womens’ Road Race.
Sun October 3rd
Today is the final day of the World Championships & the Elite Mens Road Race. We will ride through Cadel Evans’ home town of Barwon Heads where will we will stop for a caffe before returning to drive out to Geelong to watch the biggest race in the southern Hemisphere. The race does many loops through Geelong making it a spectator’s delight.
Mon October 4th
Sadly our tour has ended & we will be driving everyone back to Melbourne airport for their home destination.
